METALLOGRAPHIC METHODS FOR DETERMINING THE QUALITY OF ALUMINIUM ALLOYS

Metallographic investigations are critical in research and materials’ quality control. Therefore, these methods very present scientific industrial activities. In particular for control, metallographic analyses have an indirect correlation with quality, time economic aspect the metallurgical industry. Most of used aluminium alloys’ determination non-standard required by customers. The suitability effectiveness control best determined interlaboratory investigations. this investigation, two laboratories seven different operators using five light microscopes associated software were involved. covered a rim zone, dendritic arm space, intermetallic phases non-metallic inclusions. From calculated measurement uncertainty, where worst case results differ 4.7 %, it is clear that all four suitable implementation laboratories, when correctly accurately defined (with easy-to-follow instructions).
